The YLD Judicial Law Clerk Committee is hosting a CLE on Friday, December 8, from 9:15 AM - 3:15 PM, at Bar Headquarters in Atlanta. A virtual option will also be made available upon request. This is a four-credit-hour CLE that will include one professionalism hour. The CLE will cost $30, which includes the cost of lunch and will pay for your CLE credit. Law students are invited to audit the CLE for free.
Our program will begin with a presentation about pro se filings and motions, followed by a panel of current and former staff attorneys and law clerks. Our afternoon session will start off with a panel of judges, including Justice Verda Colvin from the Supreme Court of Georgia, Judge Sara Doyle from the Court of Appeals of Georgia, and Judge Paige Whitaker from the Superior Court of Fulton County. We will conclude with a presentation from Professors Ishaq Kundawala and Kaleb Byars from Mercer Law School about professionalism as a judicial law clerk, the ABA Model Code of Judicial Conduct, and hypothetical scenarios that present professionalism challenges to law clerks with proposed solutions. An informal social hour will follow the last presentation.
This CLE is geared towards young lawyers who are just starting their careers as law clerks or staff attorneys and law students who aspire to become law clerks, but we encourage veteran law clerks and staff attorneys to attend as well!
